Shanda and Linda have been working very hard to get out next group project ready to start.  We’ve decided to do a baby blanket.  It ended up being a little more work than anticipated, Shanda had to re-write nearly every block pattern.  It’s going to be really cute, though.  We’ll be using Encore again but this time in very bright colors!

I have decided to start closing Tuesdays.  Business has been slower and I usually have to spend my day off taking Tyler to therapy at least every 3 weeks which makes me feel like I am not getting a day off.  I will change it if it doesn’t seem to work, but I thought summer was a good time to test it.

I am just back to work after being off unexpectedly for a week.  Our family got that nasty stomach virus and it really took me a long time to get over it.  I’m back fresh and ready to go now, though.

What are you knitting this summer?

This month has been very busy.  As most know, my brother just had surgery and a lot of my attention has been towards that.  I am happy to say he is doing well.  The fundraiser was a huge success and the surgery was very successful, too.

On Tues., I will have a small amount of Kureyon sock yarn color #188 in stock.

I am hoping to bring in some Kertzer yarns soon.  The order has been placed and I should be getting a call from the company sometime in the next few weeks.

Stop in and say hi when you get a chance!

twitter sale

Just a little note to let you know that if you visit us on Twitter and drop in the store with the coupon code on Tues-Fri between noon and 5:30, you’ll get a one-time discount between now and April 15!

Last week, Shanda took the afghan to the Friendship House and it was very well received.  She’ll be writing her account of the delivery soon.

This brings us to the point of gearing up to start the new one.  This time we’re going to do a baby afghan in bright colors.  Shanda is working on getting the patterns written up and printed out.  It’s all going to have to be figured out for me because it looks to be confusing with colors and patterns…but we’re really excited.  The purple is on back-order but the rest of the yarn is in and set aside.

If you’re interested in taking part, let us know.  We really enjoyed the whole process this last time and had fun working together.  We learned a lot and hope to make this one even better.

Poems is in!

Our new shipment of Poems arrived today so we have a good range of colors again!  This yarn has been very popular for felting and for hats and scarves.  Come in today for a great selection!

new hours

I am not sure how or why I would let so much time pass without posting. We have new Saturday hours.  We’ll be closing at 3:30 now along with the jewelry store.A lot has been going on at The Yarn Corner.  We finished our afghan and it is beautiful.  The finishing took much longer than we anticipated and we learned a lot about planning. We are now planning our next one…a baby blanket.  The yarn is ordered and we’re getting excited about getting started on it.  Ths one will be out of bright colors and again we will be using Plymouth Encore.   Please let us know if you are interested in participating.I’ll try to do better about keeping up the blog…I know I said that before, but I will try.  Happy knitting!

10.10.08

The afghan is coming along great.  It is completely sewn together and the border is well on it’s way to being done.  There hasn’t been anyone in for about a week to work on it, but Bunni did figure out how to round the corners on it.  The green leafy border really adds to the over all look of it all and we hope to have it done by the time the mission has their annual dinner so it can be given then.

The relay afghan was a big hit and we finished all of the squares 3 days ahead of schedule!  Thank you to all who participated, it was great fun!

We will be putting the afghan together on Sept. 9.  If you are interested in details, please drop me an email and I’ll give you the information on that.

We got a big shipment of Poems by Wisdom Yarns.  We have all the colorways that are offered.  The yarn is nice to work with.  I’ve made several projects and liked working with it.  The colors are really nice.

I will be on vacation from Sept. 1~8 but as always, if you know what you want, someone from the jewelry store will be happy to ring up a sale.

Happy knitting!

Olympic times

We have several people signing up or planning to.  It’s exciting to see the enthusiasm!

I have finally found the official start time information:

Official Start: 8pm Opening Ceremonies, Beijing time

Official End: 11:59 pm, apx. end of Closing Ceremonies, Beijing time

so, according to that, the knitting may begin at 5:00 a.m. our time on Friday, Aug. 8!
The official end time would be Aug. 24 at 8:59 a.m our time.

We have some fast knitters at the starting gate so we can get a quick start and they may bring up the end, too so those of us in the middle can just knit and do our best.  If you get that call and are not able to knit at that time slot, we have a plan for that, too.

On your mark, get set………………….
